How thick will the slab be, and what's the reinforcement? You want a specific answer: inches of concrete, rebar or wire, and whether it's on chairs. Vague answers usually mean the steel ends up on the dirt.
What goes under the concrete? A compacted base is the difference between a slab that stays flat and one that settles. Ask what material, how deep, and whether it gets compacted.
Where will the control joints go, and when will you cut them? Joints cut on a plan within the first day control cracking. Joints cut whenever the crew gets back to it don't.
What time will you pour, and how will you cure it? In our climate, early pours and a real curing step are non-negotiable. A contractor who hasn't thought about it hasn't poured through a Permian Basin summer.
Can I get that in writing? Every number above should be on your estimate along with demo, haul-off, finish, and the price. Ours always are.
Who do I call if something isn't right? You should get a name and a number that gets answered. At Ricky's Concrete Finish, that's Ricky, and the phone is on 24/7.
